For high school wrestlers across the country, this is the most exciting time of the year—but for Washington wrestlers, it’s everything. This past weekend marked a crucial step in the journey, as district tournaments determined who would earn a coveted spot at the Washington State Championships. Now, the stage is set for the ultimate showdown at the Tacoma Dome on February 20-22, 2025. For those who punched their tickets, the dream is alive. For others, the grind continues.


First, here’s a complete list of Outlaw wrestlers who qualified over the weekend, followed by a recap of each wrestler’s journey to earning their spot at state. Let’s dive into the action, the heartbreak, and the battles that shaped the road to the Dome.

4A District 3 SPSL (Boys & Girls)

  • #1 Azalea Fetters (13-3), Curtis High School, SR – 6th Place (G-105 lbs)

    • "Anu" secured her ticket to state with a 6th-place finish. After battling through the weekend, she medically forfeited out for maintenance reasons, ensuring she’ll be ready to compete at the Dome.


  • Bryce Bittner (29-8), Curtis High School, FR – 5th Place (106 lbs)

    • Bryce showed resilience, going 4-2 on the weekend to claim 5th place and earn his first trip to state as a freshman. His ability to bounce back in the consolation bracket proved his toughness.


  • #2 Koa Fetters (42-3), Curtis High School, FR – 1st Place (113 lbs)

    • Koa continued his dominant freshman campaign, running through the bracket with a perfect 4-0 record. His weekend included two tech falls and a pin before taking down #3-ranked Hoyt Harshman of Sumner in the finals. His performance cemented his status as a title contender at state.


  • #10 Jayden Vo (34-4), Spanaway Lake High School, JR – 3rd Place (113 lbs)

    • Jayden battled through a tough bracket, going 4-1 with two pins, a tech fall, and a major decision. His ability to put points on the board was on full display as he punched his ticket to state with a third-place finish.


  • Crew Williamson (27-14), Curtis High School, FR – 5th Place (113 lbs)

    • Another freshman making noise, Crew wrestled through the consolation rounds, finishing 4-2 on the weekend. His determination and ability to bounce back after losses earned him a well-deserved state qualification.


  • Caleb Do (26-15), Spanaway Lake High School, SR – 6th Place (113 lbs)

    • Caleb went 3-3 on the weekend and battled through a deep bracket to earn his spot at state. His persistence paid off, as he will get the chance to compete at the Tacoma Dome in his senior season.


  • Kamuela Kalilikane (28-17), Curtis High School, SO – 7th Place (126 lbs)

    • "Wela's" state berth came in dramatic fashion. After going 3-2 on the weekend, he won a must-win 7th-place match against Wesley Alt of Bethel. With a tech fall, a decision, and a major decision victory, he proved he belongs on the big stage.


  • #1 Rubylove Koch (32-4), Curtis High School, JR – 1st Place (G-140 lbs)

    • Rubylove dominated her bracket, going 3-0 with three pins—all in under 4.5 minutes. With the #3-ranked girl in her bracket, she made a statement, showing why she’s the #1-ranked wrestler in her weight class. She’s heading into state with momentum on her side.


  • #4 Eli Calderon (38-4), Curtis High School, SO – 2nd Place (190 lbs)

    • Eli put together a strong performance, finishing 3-1 with two pins and a hard-fought decision victory. In the finals, he took #1-ranked Cole Torres of Bethel to the wire, losing in a thrilling 14-11 decision. With his high-scoring style, he’s set to make noise at state.


2A District 3 SPSL (Boys Division)

  • #2 Shane Spindel (36-5), Washington High School, JR – 3rd Place (106 lbs)

    • Shane went 3-1 on the weekend, securing a podium finish and a state qualification. His consistency and aggressive style earned him a strong third-place finish.


  • #7 Trey Sta Rosa (31-5), Eatonville High School, SR – 2nd Place (157 lbs)

    • Trey put together a great tournament run, finishing 2-1 with a tech fall and a decision victory. His only loss came in the finals against #1-ranked Quentin Harding of Orting, but his performance showed he’s ready for the state tournament.


Looking Ahead to the Tacoma Dome

With an impressive number of Outlaw high school wrestlers earning their way to state, the focus now shifts to preparing for the ultimate test. The Washington State Championships will bring the best of the best to the mat, and our qualifiers are ready to make their mark. Be sure to tune in to the WIAA Washington State Championships on February 20-22 to witness one of the greatest sporting events in Washington State.
